Peripheral Arterial Ultrasound Screening

A peripheral arterial ultrasound is a safe, non-radiative scan that evaluates the arteries of the arms and legs. This screening helps detect early vascular changes that may affect circulation, tissue oxygenation, mobility, and overall cardiovascular health. This screening helps rule out: Plaque and Arterial Blockages Build-up of fat, lipids, or calcium that narrows or obstructs blood flow. Arterial Narrowing (Stenosis) Reduced blood flow caused by vessel constriction. Abnormal Flow Patterns Turbulent or dampened waveforms indicating developing arterial disease. Early Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) Circulatory changes that can lead to leg pain, cramping, or decreased mobility. Aneurysmal Changes Localized enlargement or weakening of peripheral arteries. Reduced Perfusion to the Extremities Poor blood supply affecting warmth, color, or tissue health. Waveform Abnormalities Linked to Systemic Disease Hemodynamic changes related to diabetes, microvascular dysfunction, or long-term inflammation. Peripheral arterial ultrasound is quick, painless, and completely free of radiation. Your participation helps our students develop strong hands-on vascular skills while providing our community with valuable early detection and preventive screening.
