A transabdominal prostate ultrasound is a safe, non-radiative scan that evaluates the prostate and surrounding pelvic structures using sound waves only. This screening allows us to obtain a general overview of prostate size, position, and surrounding anatomy, helping identify findings that may benefit from follow-up care. This screening helps evaluate and rule out: Prostate (transabdominal overview) Prostate enlargement Gross asymmetry or contour changes Abnormal prostate positioning Markedly enlarged prostate volume (screening assessment) Bladder (pre- and post-void assessment when applicable) Bladder wall thickening Incomplete bladder emptying (post-void residual) Bladder outlet obstruction patterns Structural abnormalities Seminal Vesicles (as visualized) Enlargement or asymmetry Structural abnormalities (limited visualization) Pelvic Structures Pelvic masses or fluid Structural displacement affecting the bladder or prostate Pelvic Vasculature (visual overview) Gross vascular enlargement Compression or displacement patterns related to prostate or bladder size Transabdominal prostate ultrasound is quick, painless, and completely free of radiation. Your participation supports hands-on student education while offering our community an opportunity for early awareness and preventive evaluation.
